January 3--confluence

it wasn't raining today, so I got out to take a walk.

discovery park sits at the confluence of the sacramento and american rivers.
it is a great place for a picnic.
it's also a great place for the excess river water to go when there is too much, like right now.

a couple of weeks ago i was sitting in the sun at one of those tables, writing in my journal.
today i remained standing.
