december 7--22:00 to 23:00 (post-conference)

10:08 pm--we have post conference after the clinical shift on thursday and friday evenings, where we talk about how the day went and go over any clinical issues that might have come up. the students have worked very hard to get to this point--they are about 1 1/2 months from graduating. nursing school is tough--you not only have to know a lot, you have to also jump through a lot of hoops, and some of them are flaming hoops.

when we started post-conference this evening, I said, "do me a favor and put you heads down on the desk for a minute". no one asked why.

my job, in this last month and a half, is to teach them that they don't have to jump through hoops anymore, and free them to think critically.
