oh, how i love graveyards. they are so beautiful, sometimes.
but what i really wanted to say is that when i look at that photo of the cup filled with coffee beans, i hear "crunch crunch crunch" in my head. i just wanted to share that. :)
looks like you've had a lovely day :-) every now and then, i steal a day to myself. it's luxury isn't it! is this a different graveyard than the 'angel statue' one? it looks remarkably well tended for the dates on the stones. and the flowers too.... beautiful.
It is a different graveyard. The other one was out on the coast. This one is right here in town. I had never visited it before yesterday. There is so much to see! Much of it is old, and for many years was untended. Then a number of years ago, some people came together to clean it up, and now there are a whole group of volunteers who take care of the place.
I met a man yesterday who volunteers hours to repair brickwork, and a woman who has "adopted" a plot, planting flowers and keeping it clean.
I took a bunch of flower pictures too, but am saving them for another day.
that's a nice idea. just down the road from me is one of the earliest public cemetaries in australia...full of history...but unfortunately in very bad disrepair.
it was one of my favorites. I toook a couple of different shots, and liked this one the best. I especially like the way the flowers are starting to overtake everything.
great pictures, great graveyard, great cuppa coffee! graveyards are good place to draw, too. i used to go to graveyards and parks, when i did a lot of drawing. i'm starting to draw a bit again. lately i've been in a lot of waiting rooms. we go to Starbucks, because its marginally better than the other coffee places, but we really prefer coffee in San Francisco. maybe we'll get over there for Christmas this year. that would be a great present, wouldn't it? a weekend off in another town.~paul
