July 5th--Hangover Day!

We had a great dinner yesterday. The weather stayed great, and we ate out on the back patio. We all remembered how hot it was last year. The food turned out good, and there was plenty of it.



I made two different kind of ribs. One, low and slow, with a rib rub, wrapped in foil with some orange juice to kind of braise it, and the other with the Basque marinade I have been trying lately. Both turned out good. The ones in the foil were more tender, probably because they cooked for twice as long. My potato salad was amazing. I should write it down so I remember how I made it. I'm not sure if I have made potato salad since my cooking days, but I will make it more often from now on. Good for potlucks.

We had a good time and drank lots of wine. Our friends left before the fireworks show, so it was just Malida and I watching. It was spectacular as usual.

Your photos of the fireworks are seriously the best photos of fireworks I've ever seen. The colors are so bright and the lines of light so clear!

I have gotten a lot of compliments about the photos. It didn't take a lot of skill--just the right settings and making sure it was in focus.
