traveler, sacramento (via new orleans), january 2005

eric

I met eric on j street in sacramento, standing next to a subway sandwich shop. He asked me for some change--he told me he was stuck in sacramento, and was trying to make his way back to new orleans. I gave him a few bucks and asked if I could take his picture.

Just before I took this shot, I asked him how he happened to end up so far from home. "I don't know", he said.

I've always felt that way when I was far from home.

Great portrait :-)

[livejournal.com profile] myasma = awesome.

I sang and played "Into Temptation" at the art show a couple years ago. I followed it with Patty Griffin's "Forgiveness" for a whole Biblical-redemption theme.

he is so beautiful.

there is something really nostalgic and old about your pictures that makes them really captivating...

He's stunning.

One Christmas, I bought my boyfriend (at the time) a Grinch University poster all rolled up as a gift. When he opened it, it turned out I had bought the wrong poster...it was a Jack Daniels one instead. Whoops. It looked exactly like that t-shirt, in velvet. I don't know who was more surprised, him or me! (he doesn't drink; his dad is an alcoholic) Either way, he hung it prominantly on his wall.

I love this series. There is such a directness about the way you take the portraits. I must remember to get each person's story as I embark on my journey. :-)

something about this really strikes me.

I wonder if he is where he needs to be, now.

I'm 95% sure that I've had a conversation with that man. His name even fits. I think he's a friend of a friend. How cool.
I hope he gets home.
