57130--what do you do on the day after an eclipse?
Get stuff ready for a trip down the coast. We are heading down to Cambria for a few days, and then down to LA to see my family. I took the big car to be serviced this morning, and then a car wash. Forgot to get gas.

I stayed up until after 2:30 am watching the eclipse. Even though I've seen eclipses before, there is a sort of magic to them that never fails to impress. Radioparadise.com had a great eclipse set playing, and I listened to that as I watched and took pictures. It was cloudy during the penumbral eclipse, but cleared up nicely. I know some of my friends had clouds that obscured their view, so I felt fortunate.

My favorite picture of the evening was this one, that shows the red moon, Mars up in the right corner, and Spica, to the right of the moon.
I got to bed late, and had to get up fairly early, and now I am sleepy.

How will you know if you found me at last
'Cause I'll be the one, be the one, be the one
With my heart in my lap
I'm so tired, I'm so tired
And I wish I was the moon tonight

I can still remember one from about 1983, when I was living in Oakland. A bunch of us went up to the roof of the apartment building and laid down and watched it while listening to Pink Floyd.

I have heard that there are adaptors that allow you to connect a camera to a telescope. I wouldn't mind trying that out.

My pix did not turn out so well because the telescope was a very slow f/12.5 and that meant 3-second exposure times. I've got another one on order which is rated f/5 and ought to be able to get the shutter speed down to 1/30 or so. Since the moon is moving, the faster shutter speed makes for a sharper image.
