February XXIX--The second anniversary of an eight-year commitment

It is our second wedding anniversary! We've been married 8 years! 29! What?
That's one of the reasons we chose this day to get married. What?
So hard to believe, which is the same thing I said last year when I posted about this. Interestingly, it was the last post I made for a long time after that. Anyway, we both had to work and then come home and do homework, so that's what we did, and we will have a nice lunch together tomorrow after school.
In the picture, Malida looks excited, and I look calm. I was actually super jet-lagged, having only gotten in that morning and then whisked off to have photos taken. I had no idea what I was getting into, but was open to the adventure of jumping into something and seeing where it went, which was true of almost everything I did back then. Eight years later I am happy I did. She is a wonderful person to spend this part of my life with.
I had to leave a little early this morning because I had a lot of stuff to do today at work before I came home and dove into the paper that was due this evening, and just now submitted. My cohort has a Facebook page and everyone complained about having to write this paper, which kind of made it easier, since we shared the misery.
When I left for work the sun was just starting to come up over the little park at the end of my neighborhood. This isn't the park we walk in--it's just a few trees, a soccer field and some benches. We just voted on whether to put in a walking path around the perimeter, so hopefully one day soon it will be one of the parks I walk in.
This is the first thing I see at the end of our street, and if I leave at the right time, it is a lovely way to start the day. Like today.

That's very cute that you were married on a leap day--you will be young newlyweds for quite some time :-) You both look beautiful in the photo.
