We're off to see the wizard....

We are on our way out the door to the infusion center for the first round of chemotherapy. It is a strange path, and completely unfamiliar to both of us. I am developing a whole new vocabulary-- CPT-11, 5-FU, and so on.

I am trying to decide what music goes well with cytotoxic drugs.

The neices have been here for the past few days. Boys boys boys--that's all they talk about.

More later.

My vote goes for punk rock.

Blessings.

How about "She Blinded Me With Science"?

Ha! I love that song. There's a guy on Food TV who uses it as his theme song.

i vote for something moody and mellow, like Pink Floyd or Crystal Method.

Who is (are) Crystal Method? I have never heard them.

i don't know how to describe them. they're all-accoustic and just a very rich, rich sound. somewhat techno, but without the tinny-ness. if you go to amazon.com you should be able to listen to a snippet.

Air Supply and Barry Manilow have always had a cytotoxic effect on me...

[identity profile] myasma.livejournal.com 2003-06-17 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that would give everybody nausea and vomiting.

Unless, of course, you actually like Barry Manilow.

[identity profile] felixbunay.livejournal.com 2003-06-18 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
I liked him for about a minute when I was 12 and his only hit was "Mandy." Then it turned out he was Barry Manilow.

Enya. When my mom had to go to chemo thats what we'd listen to.

Music for Medicine

I had a kind dentist one time. He gave me gas, lots of gas, and if I flinched a little he would shoot my mouth full of novocaine too. You know what happens when you don't have the occasional twinge of pain to bring you back from La La land? You get out there. Way, way out there.

He also let me wear a radio walkman while he was working on my mouth. So while I was in the land of Nod I heard Natalie Merchant singing a cover of the Boss's "Because the Night". I couldn't figure it out. I felt like I was in the bottom of the rabbit hole and everything was going Kafloooey.

So, I recommend Natalie Merchant. Doesn't sound right, I know, but trust me.

I had the same dentist--he was always finding things to work on in my mouth. It was like the Department of Public Works in there.
