every now and then, i steal a day to myself. it's luxury isn't it! is this a different graveyard than the 'angel statue' one? it looks remarkably well tended for the dates on the stones.
and the flowers too....

It is a different graveyard. The other one was out on the coast. This one is right here in town. I had never visited it before yesterday. There is so much to see! Much of it is old, and for many years was untended. Then a number of years ago, some people came together to clean it up, and now there are a whole group of volunteers who take care of the place.

I met a man yesterday who volunteers hours to repair brickwork, and a woman who has "adopted" a plot, planting flowers and keeping it clean.

I took a bunch of flower pictures too, but am saving them for another day.

that's a nice idea. just down the road from me is one of the earliest public cemetaries in australia...full of history...but unfortunately in very bad disrepair.
