We ended up at the emergency room this morning, and Arlina was admitted. The are having a lot of difficulty getting her pain in control. The on-call oncologist thinks it has to do with the recently discovered metastatic spine lesion. he thinks the tumor may be pressing on a nerve.
The plan is for Arlina to have an MRI tomorrow to confirm, then a course of radiation. In the meantime, she is getting huge doses of IV narcotics, which is freaking the nurses out (it is way beyond what we normally give). Fortunately it is a nurse that I trained (a long time ago), and she will do whatever is necessary to make Arlina comfortable.
Thank you for all your prayers and well-wishes. I don't think I will ever be able to find adequate words to convey how much your kindness means to us.
We press on.

For balancing out all the whiney LJ people with nothing to complain about that insist on complaining anyway...
...including me, of course.

And I am thanking goodness for your having that particular nurse. I kiss her far-away feet.
