What an amazing picture!

Where is this? Is that a lighthouse I see? (The only place west of the Mississippi River I've ever been is to the San Diego area for one week.)

the picture is grand
but the title especially seems just right to it!

Beautiful.

I almost thought it was a picture of africa.
But then I noticed there were plants living in the dirt.

San Simeon, yes?

Oh my goodness, that is breathtaking

Your pics are usually good, but this one's unusually compelling IMO. Is this real as one picture? It feels like two: One of the place where I the viewer am, in the scrub, and one of the city far away, with the tower and the rock. Or the smokestack and the rock. I don't know which it is. It could be either, or both, and each answer has layered meanings (tower v. smokestack). In this picture, you're asking the viewer not only who they are, but where they are, and letting in enough beauty for innumerable heroic and admirable answers.

thank you!

It is above a town called Morro Bay, on the central california coast. the tower is actually three smokestacks for the power company.

I was just going to say that about your user icon ;)

The title actually came from the moment, when i was sitting up there looking out and pondering what God had in store for me.

thanks!

it is the california coast.

just below san simeon--morro bay.

[identity profile] myasma.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
thank you!

it is a single picture. after being frustrated by my landscape pictures, my friend suggested that i needed to include some foreground. it was my friend who suggested this spot too. quite a friend.

you're asking the viewer not only who they are, but where they are, and letting in enough beauty for innumerable heroic and admirable answers

I like that!

Dude, I need to go to California.
Jersey shore has nothing on that.

If you do ever come out this way, be sure to let me know and I'll show you the sights.

Wow. Thanks for sharing this view of your part of the world. It's beautiful!

Stumbled on your journal through blakeh, was wondering if I could add you?

[identity profile] franciscan.livejournal.com 2005-11-19 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
I thought I recognized this place....

I try to do the same thing with mine. I notice that I tend to like layers--foreground, background, middle ground. I've liked much of what I take with that strategy.
