Oh bless you, bless you.

(How'd you manage to take pics inside, or do they allow them?)

<3 :)

[identity profile] myasma.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
i selected this one today with you in mind!

they allow you to take pictures (non-flash) in the permanent exhibits, but not in the temporary. since i spent most of my time in the temporary exhibits, i didn't get a lot of art pictures.

Oh! :D

Doubly thank you :)

I'll have to go now dig out some more sun-dappled irises from last spring.

(I love this one how dark and heavy it is; was this one painted toward the latter end of his life I wonder?)

[identity profile] pbsage.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
love his work. but, i think he would have been a very difficult man to like and/or love.

[identity profile] niyabinghi.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh...well, weren't all the best ones that way?

We probably wouldn't be talking about him if he had been nicer, saner, and did much tamer work.
;)

[identity profile] pbsage.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
no, all of the best were not that way.

rubens, rembrandt come to mind.

one must never confuse the work for the person.

You're correct; I should have said "some".

[identity profile] myasma.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
he couldn't even live with himself.

They let you blog from jail?

I'll say.

[identity profile] daily-in-la.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm listening to Vincent now. :-)

[identity profile] lowflyingsquab.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
the lyrics are some of the most moving I have ever heard.

[identity profile] hussla.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed, I love that song.

[identity profile] yechezkiel.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree.

I have been known to burst out weeping from even just the Muzak versions played in elevators! lol

(Anonymous) 2006-02-15 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I love this painting!

Is this from Vincent Van Gogh?

[identity profile] ex-angeldove677.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Oops!!! I did it again. Didn't mean to sign as anonymous. I was on Firefox browser & sometime that thang is confusing.

[identity profile] myasma.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It is Van Gogh--amazing to see it up close. Have you ever been down to the Getty Museum?

[identity profile] ex-angeldove677.livejournal.com 2006-02-17 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
Van Gogh!!!!!!!!! I knew it. I LOVE HIM!!!!!! I would like to have one of his painting in my office. No, I've never been to the Getty Museum, where is it?

[identity profile] myasma.livejournal.com 2006-02-17 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
The Getty museum is in Los Angeles

[identity profile] ex-angeldove677.livejournal.com 2006-02-17 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't visit L.A. as much as I do S.F. Oh well, even SF...I hardly visit there anymore either. :(

[identity profile] inhim.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
This picture seems to be jumping right off the computer screen at me. And my monitor isn't even all that hot. Literally looks 3-D. The brush strokes seem to have authentic texture.

Amazing.

[identity profile] myasma.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I noticed that as I was editing the picture--amazing!

[identity profile] theodicy.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally dig the tree at the Norton Simon too.

[identity profile] myasma.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I have never been there, but it is on my list.

[identity profile] fairy.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
I cant tell you how much I love that song. And that part that you quoted *always* chokes me up.

[identity profile] myasma.livejournal.com 2006-02-16 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
it is such a beautiful song.

[identity profile] mrshannibal.livejournal.com 2006-02-17 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
this song and the painter/artist - make me cry...
