Chemo day....

...went well. It was almost anticlimactic after what we were imagining. Arlina just kind of sat there for a couple of hours and then we went home. Apparently side effects don't start until around the second treatment, which is good. Next treatment is early monday morning--imagine starting your week with that!

The infusion center is nice--big easy chairs for the patients, regular chairs for everyone else. Hard wood floors, soft colors--a very relaxing place. I made a suggestion that they add data ports so that the husbands of chemo patients can surf the net while waiting, but they just laughed.

Thank you for all the cool music suggestions. I ended up forgetting to bring the cd walkman thing, so we sat in relative silence.

The hat rocks.

My apologies...

Ever since this thing started, I've been searching for something to say to describe how I've felt... how much of my sympathy and good wishes I give you... how much I've come to know you and your wife since the days of bobohead (in fact, I asked Duncan, and was surprised to learn that I'd never actually met you...) but I can't find the words to adequately express them.

I wish you and your beautiful wife the very best. You both are in my heart, my mind, and my prayers (such that they are) constantly. Please continue to keep us updated on her progress.

Thank you so much, Jason. You found the perfect words.

I have never met any of the bobohead people, and this is on my list of life goals. I came across bobohead by accident while working one night when we had stolen an internet access code from one of the residents and were looking stuff up at random. We were checking to see if there was a St. Bobo, and bobohead.com came up. It was Chandra who gave me my LJ code, and now I know all these people I have never met, but who have been so incredibly supportive through all this. It's funny how that works.

Thank you again for your words of support!

Everybody experiences chemotherapy differently. You should not assume that such-and-such bad thing will happen just because someone else had it happen. Some people can sail through chemo' like it is a summer vacation while others taking the same medication have a trip to Hell. Remember your high school Geometry lessons: Never assume anything!

My experience with chemotherapy and music is that quiet soothing New Age music (no matter how much you may detest the genre) will help the healing of upset tummy and jangled nerves.

You must know that chemotherapy drugs are deadly toxins. The body-mind connection needs all the help it can get to recover strength for the next treatment, so my advice is that you do whatever is needed to help your warrior-wife.

"... so my advice is that you do whatever is needed to help your warrior-wife."

On reflection, I see that this line could sound insulting because you are already doing whatever is needed to help your warrior-wife. My apologies to you. Sometimes I can be so thoughtless.

Not at all. I appreciate your words of wisdom.
