Old and jaded
Dec. 3rd, 2002 10:24 amI belong to a livejournal nursing group, and there are a lot of shiny new nursing students who also post. This morning, one of them posted her observation on her first time seeing someone get dialysis. She wrote:
"I was amazed, here was this medium sized machine doing the job of a human organ! I sat for four hours watching a machine drain out his blood slowly, filter it, and put it back. I knew what dialysis meant, the techincal terminology but to see it happen is just amazing."
Whenever I see a dialysis machine in a patient's room, all I think about is that it is going to be in my way sooner or later.
