Big doctor
Jan. 30th, 2003 01:23 pmWe started a "big new thing" in the ICU this week. It consists of a doctor and a nurse sitting in a room in the data center and montoring critically ill patients via data screens and cameras. They monitor trends and look for subtle changes patient condition. If they notice something, they call us, and we intervene. It is supposed to make a significant(positive)difference in patient outcome, which is a good thing.
So they have installed all this high-tech video conferencing stuff and sophisticated monitoring technology. They also put in one of the greatest copy machines I have ever seen. It is the size of a volkswagen, and can do everything. You can fax and email directly from it. It has dual scanners, which will scan both sides of a page at the same time. I haven't figured out how to make a single sided copy yet, but I'm working on it.
I am one of the primary resource persons for implementation and so have been working very long days. Interstingly, two of the other primary resource persons chose this week to take vacation.
