See no evil, hear no evil
Mar. 20th, 2003 02:15 pmI tolerated about a half hour of the tv coverage of the war and then had to turn it off. No matter which channel I turned to, it seemed too much like they were covering some sports event rather than highly coordinated death. It's like the Olympics or something.
I switched to NPR, which is slightly better. At least it doesn't consume me--I can tune it out.
During the first gulf war, I couldn't get enough of the coverage. I was glued to the tv for days, fascinated by every precision bomb that found its target. I didn't take time then to consider what was behind those concrete walls and under the burning piles of rubble. I guess I know now.
I continue to pray for peace, but feel it is mostly a futile gesture.
