May. 21st, 2003 11:19 pmToday was pretty much a waiting day. Lots and lots of visitors--more than 40 over the past two days, not counting family members and people who poked their heads in while working. Arlina's room is filled with flowers, teddy bears, cards and food. I never realized how many lives she has touched. The outpouring of love and support incredible.
I married an amazing woman. All day she has entertained a steady stream of visitors while mentally preparing for major surgery and undergoing a series of tests. She has been upbeat all day, comforting our friends who are just overwhelmed with the news of her illness. As I left this evening, she was on the phone with her sister-in-law (whose son is in the hospital), giving her comfort and support. I do not know how she does it. I am in awe.
