Keeping on the Suny Side of Life
Sep. 23rd, 2003 06:57 amWe will be spending two nights ( here )
on our Oregon trip. It's the Heceta Head lighthouse, and one of the most beautiful spots on the coast. The lightkeeper's house has been converted to a bed and breakfast. It has always been one of Arlina's dreams to stay here. Mine too (but I still want a Porsche).
When we got back from the doctor's yesterday, I wrote an email to the innkeeper and, acknowledging that it was a long shot, asked if they might have any rooms available when we would be up there. She wrote back and just happened to have their best (and most expensive--yikes) room available for the weekend we will be in that part of Oregon.
So now I have the first half of the trip kind of nailed down. We will spend the first three days (including our 10th wedding anniversary) in Mendocino, on the California coast, in a nice place with an ocean view and a fireplace. From there, we will meander up through the redwoods, staying wherever we decide to settle for the night. After a few days we will head into Grant's Pass to see Gillian Welch. From there, we'll head back out to the coast to visit my cousin in Coos Bay. After that it's the lighthouse. The last ten days are kid of fuzzy, but I figure to spend a few of them in Portland.
We leave one week from tomorrow. My camera's so excited it's sitting by the front door jumping up and down.
