The Peter Iredale

The British 4-masted barque Peter Iredale was bound for Portland when she stranded on Clatsop Beach, on October 25, 1906 during a gale. Her captain had brought her too close to shore as he approached the Columbia River from the south. The wind and current drove the Peter Iredale onto the beach at about 6:00 a.m. All hands were saved, but the ship became a total loss.
