It is so quiet and peaceful this morning. The only noise is the ticking of the mantle clock. I have been up for a while, reading and reflecting.
We have the girls over this weekend--the first time in a while. It seems like they are growing up so fast. Every time I look at them, I see more of the women they are becoming, and less of the little girls they were not so long ago. It is both exciting, and a little heartbreaking.
Arlina has wanted to spend time with the girls, but it has been difficult lately. She has so much she wants to tell them about life. She went through her jewelry with them yesterday and promised pieces to each of them. I am glad she has been able to do this.
We went to the movies. Lord of the Rings and The Passion (we snuck in after LOTR). After 6+ hours of movie-watching, we went to the Spaghetti Factory, our favorite place to have dinner with the girls. The talk was all about boys, as usual.
We meet with the oncologist tomorrow to review the scans from last week and plot out the next steps in Arlina's treatment. I am hoping that she will be able to give Arlina some time off, so that she can regain her strength. It's been a little less than ten months of almost continuous treatment.
It's time for me to wake every one up to get ready for church. After that we are off to an all-day birthday party at Grandma's.
I enjoyed these few minutes of peace. Thank you for sharing them with me.
