Bags packed and ready to go
Mar. 26th, 2004 05:24 pmI'm going to Ft. Lauderdale in the morning for a few days to look at something someone invented and wants to sell to our hospital. I've never been to Florida, so I am really looking forward to it. I want to see the sun rise over the ocean. I'm assuming you can do that in Florida.
My bags aren't really packed--just a bunch of clothes, books and junk piled up on the bed. I almost always overpack. I have no idea how I was able to spend three weeks traveling in Europe with less than I am taking for a four day trip. Will my toenails grow enough in four days to justify bringing the toenail clipper? How many extra socks should I bring?
I am having trouble with the books--I am halfway through the one I'm reading (Life of Pi--excellent!), and will probably finish it on the plane. I still have a bunch of theology stuff to read, but whenever I take them with me, I never even take them out of the bag. But I do need to write a homily on the Trinity, so I should bring a Trinity book, even though I know I won't read it.
I bought another compact flash card for my camera today. I'm planning to take a lot of pictures while I'm there. I thought about bringing my 35mm along, but it's kind of the theology book of cameras these days.
I called the hotel this morning and asked if they have high-speed internet access. They do, but it is $10 a day. The contract for my trip stipulates that the company that is bringng me to Florida will pay all reasonable expenses. I think having internet access is reasonable, don't you? If you can tnk of any other reasonable expenses I mght be overlooking, please let me know!
Anyway, I have another post to write, but not enough time--it's about my meeting with the Bishop. Maybe I'll write it in Florida, and throw in a picture of a parrot or something.
Adios!
