July 6--driving home with the roof open

I worked in the ED all day today, and felt very much out of my comfort zone for most of the time. I had to give myself a little pep talk partway through, and remind myself of why I had decided to gain these skills.
Later, I was looking down at a little baby in respiratory distress, and I remembered that I used to know how to do this, and I knew then that I would know it again. And it was better after that.
I walked out of the hospital into a beautiful summer evening, and drove home with the windows down and the moon roof open. It felt good to be fully alive.
