57017--croissant
Dec. 22nd, 2013 08:23 pmWe went up to my step-sister's house for a pre-christmas brunch with my dad's side of the family. My step-sis has a lovely house atop a hill overlooking the Sacramento valley. I love going up there. My other step-sister is a fantastic baker, and made a selection of homemade croissants for our meal. They were indescribably good. I don't even want to tell you how many pounds of butter she used.

When we got there, we took a walk down the hill to the mailbox. It is a 1 1/2 mile roundtrip. The weather was great--60 degrees and sunny. It's a rural area, so lots of open space and animals.

Here's a little guy from the property down the hill. He was really friendly, and came out to wish us a merry Christmas.
It's always good to see my dad. We have had a strained relationship in the past, but I just enjoy spending time with him now--we both seem to have mellowed out.

He's 83, and in pretty good health. He lives a few miles from the airport, so we'll see him again just before we leave for our trip.
It was a nice day.
