It was supposed to rain most of the day, so we decided to forego our usual Sunday excursions and stay home. We have plenty of stuff to eat, and plenty of stuff to do. Malida needs to get caught up on her Korean dramas before her classes start this week, and I had assignments to work on.

At about 11 am I noticed the rain that was supposed to be keeping us indoors hadn't yet appeared. I looked at my new weather app, and it assured me it was raining right here. I was talking to my sister on the messenger app and asked her if it was raining where she was, which is just a few blocks from the college. She said it was, but that her husband's app had assured him that it wasn't and he had gotten caught in a downpour while taking a walk. We decided that the best weather app is probably to go outside and look up at the sky.

So I went out and looked up at the sky, and it wasn't raining, so we took a walk in the park. There was no one there but us. We walked around the duck pond. When we got to the far side, it started sprinkling. We had our rain coats and hats on, so no big deal. It was nice to be out.

seagulls

There were a lot of seagulls in the park. It reminded me of when I was a kid growing up on the east side of the San Francisco Bay. When a storm was coming in, the seagulls would fly in from the coast and hang out in the East Bay, taking shelter, I assume. Their cries this afternoon brought those memories back to me.

We came home and I spent a couple hours on the assignment that is due this evening. I finished it, and attempted to start on the one that is due tomorrow. I looked through the readings--ten chapters of material that feels like swimming through chocolate pudding.

All I lack is motivation

I have the day off tomorrow, so I will tackle it then.
