A month or so later
May. 19th, 2020 06:27 amI'm all back to normal. The only thing I notice now is that I have some trouble remembering things, but that could be due to just having a lot to remember lately, or from getting older. In any case, I make all sorts of notes, so that is helpful.

We are at the end of our extremely unusual semester. The students graduated last Thursday, and we had a pretty nice virtual celebration via Zoom. All that is left for me in this semester is to finish up a bunch of things for our final curriculum meeting this week. Then I'm done for a while. I think they are expecting me to teach some in the summer program, but no one has actually asked me yet, so I will wait and see.

We have been spending a lot of time out in our yard, growing stuff. After living here for 20 years, I finally realized that the best sun is actually out on our front patio, so we have moved a bunch of plants out there, and planted a bunch more. I will do some more work to make it a nice spot over the summer. It makes me happy.

The black chair has found a new home out there. It's a good place to sit out in the morning and watch my neighbors walk by. There are way more people out walking in the neighborhood than there used to be.

Including us. We walk down to the little park at the end of our street almost every day and do some laps around the walking path.

I continue to study the art and science of baking, and am getting better at it. I am learning the look and feel of the dough at various stages, and doing a lot of reading about it. Like anything, it is all about doing it over and over, and learning from the results. It makes me happy.

I also derive a lot of joy from watching live performances from artists who are streaming from home. I don't really like to go to concerts where there are a lot of people, so this format is pretty awesome. It's like sitting across from them in their living room and watching them play for you. This is Grant Lee Phillips, who does a half-hour every Sunday evening.
So that's the state of my being at the moment. I am probably way more content than I ought to be. Being an introvert has its advantages.
I keep telling myself that I should be more of a regular presence here, but somehow it just slips away from me, and the next thing I know, it's been a month and I am then one of those people who generate a "Zyzyly posted entry for the first time in a while."
