We taught our new students how to assess vital signs today. It was kind of fun. They took blood pressures on each other and struggled to find pulses. They seem like a good group and ask appropriate questions. I've always gotten involved in later semesters when they already know this stuff, so it is interesting to see them start at the beginning.

I am having an MRI tomorrow for my hearing thing. I was reading the instructions and hadn't realized that they will have to start an IV to give me contrast. I hate needles. I'm not too worried about the MRI itself. At least I'll know if there's anything there or not, and it will be interesting to see my own brain imaging. Malida is fretful. She's a kidney nurse, so is making me force fluids today so the contrast doesn't mess with my kidneys. I'll probably have to pee all night.

Here is a shot of Oscar Wilde's monument at Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris. I like how the angel (or whatever he is) has his eyes squeezed shut, as if waiting for a kiss. There's probably a whole story about this, but I don't know it.

I still struggle to get my artery lined up at the right place on the cuff. I don't have to do it often, but I'm always amazed at how quickly the people at the plasma center get them on just right with no effort at all.

And the statue is cool with the lipstick everywhere. (also, ew)

the lower part of the monument is now surrounded by a plastic barrier, to keep people from kissing it.

My students struggled to even find the artery. I remember how long it took me to stop faking it and actually finding it. I didn't tell them that, but I understand how daunting it is.

I love that pictures keep leaking out, long after you're home :)

I enjoyed watching that. It captured the feel of the cemetery.

I watched a few more , but this was my favorite.

14th arrondissement (http://youtu.be/mJG0lqukJTQ)

It reminded me of the time I was traveling through Southeast Asia by myself, and how I felt.

I like having the time to go through them and find the hidden gems.

I do too--but can't exactly explain why.

I've had moments like that too, traveling.

I think I liked this one best, and remember it the strongest from all the ones in the film. It's sad though.
