I was looking through my friend list and saw a picture of a rainbow reflected on the counter. It was a delightful little splash of color.

It reminded a picture I took in Paris, in the old St. Pierre church in Montmartre. There is a quiet little spot behind the altar where the baptismal font is. We sat there on a bench for a few minutes, all by ourselves. There were some ancient grave markers on the wall across from us. It was cloudy outside, but the sun came out for a minute and shone through the stained glass window over the baptismal font. Nothing special--just a nice little moment as we rested.

I wish there were places around my house with just such an ambiance. How fine our lives would be surrounded by natural beauty and everything hand crafted.

Was it [livejournal.com profile] egg_shell's photo? And I don't know if you're LJ friends with [livejournal.com profile] cmcmck, but she had light through the stained-glass windows of a cathedral, staining the interior columns with rainbows.

It's been a beautiful few days on my friends list for intangible colors!

I like the reflections of the colors especially on the ancient wall.

Very beautiful. I have crystals and prisms on a windowsill and sometimes...magic happens.

Well, I have to think that the crack being sold down the street is probably hand crafted.

It was [livejournal.com profile] egg_shell's. She has a remarkable eye for the simplest beauty around her.

This was nice, because it was unexpected.

Probably so. I'll beware of what I wish for in future.

This reminds me of visiting the National Cathedral in Washington when NotSo! was a toddler. I was carrying her in a backpack, and we would stand in the sunlight coming through the stained glass, and I'd "catch" a rainbow in my hand. NotSo! would hold out her hand to try to catch the rainbow herself, and you can imagine her reaction when there was nothing there.

This, and the one in your journal about tasting the rainbow, are both great little stories!
