empty chair, angkor wat, 2007
I was going to say that I thought this was the first image I took of an empty chair, but I remember there was an earlier one in 2004.
We had a meeting at work today about what we will be doing next year. Part of it involves a collaboration with another university. One of the people at the meeting was one of my undergrad teachers back in 1993.
What are the odds?

Odds are, it's a small world! Did you recognize your former teacher right away? In 1991 I was practicing Karate (in San Antonio) with the guy who heads my current organization (in Denver). It took us months of sizing each other up to figure out why we looked vaguely familiar.

Date: 2014-03-29 02:06 am (UTC)I have a co-worker who went to my high school, and another co-worker who lived in that town for a while. Where we live now is 550 miles away from where I grew up, and in a different state. There are military connections that make this slightly less implausible, but I'm not sure how much the military is actually involved in this particular grouping (in my case, only in a very round-about way).
My brother once ran into a friend from San Diego in the middle of London. My brother is a magnet for these sort of weird occurrences. I don't think he's capable of going half a block without running into someone he knows.
