After two weeks my office is still uncomfortably hot. I have called operations six times to complain. Six times they have sent a guy out to check the temperature, and they invariably say something like, "wow, it's hot in here!"

Yes, that is why I keep calling. I have a fan on my desk which helps, but it also blows my papers all over the place, which is inconvenient.

I called again this morning and the ops person seemed surprised that it wasn't fixed. "It's still hot in there?"

Yes. Only notable activity is that someone was in and disassembled the thermostat and left the pieces on my desk.

I am guessing it will stay hot until I am gone for the summer, and will still be hot when I return in the fall.

I suppose it would be looked upon poorly were you to cut out a window and tape up bug netting over the hole...

What an excellent picture of the thermostat of doom.

I don't know if mismanaged situations are because of lack of funding, or what, but Ky tells me similar stories. Haven't see it yet, working for the city. That would NEVER happen at Coke.

Ya know, it would be easy to just shrug and say "Some guys came in and did that, said they were the demolition engineers doing testing...."

With demolition happening so soon, your maintenance guys were probably instructed to "Act concerned about the heat, just don't spend any actual money doing anything about it."

That's aggravating. They don't want to fix it if the building is going to be demolished.

But it will be hot with a trouble ticket unresolved, and not simply hot.

I haven't been there long enough to know how it all works, but I suspect that it is partially lack of funding and partially because of the culture.

Well, they have this huge rental cooler sitting in the parking lot, so they're spending some money, but it isn't (or wasn't) getting to me.
