I went out walking this morning without Malida. She has been working an extra 12+ hour shift every week to make up for my not having an income over the summer, and she was pretty tired. So I went out and walked 3 miles and came home and took her to lunch.

We went to the Afghan place near our house. The food is delicious. I had the kabobs and she had a gyro. We had some baklava for dessert, and bought a big hunk of Naan bread to take home with us.

I thought a bit about the people who run the place, and what they might make of Donald Trump. I don't want to make this a political post. I just wondered what it must be like to be the object of derision by the presumptive nominee for president of the country you live and work in.

Someone I have known for more than 30 years just posted on Facebook that he supports Trump for president, and that Trump would be "a million times better" than "this lying, treasonous bitch" (Clinton). I just don't get it (beyond the inflammatory rhetoric that is so common now). Ignoring the note on top of my computer that reads, "Don't argue with the internet", I posted a comment that said, "No, I don't get it. Explain why Trump would be better."

I get that there are people that are unhappy, frustrated, and feel like they don't have a voice, but I really wonder what they think Trump is going to do for them. Do they really think he is going to be able to govern this country?

Ok, end of political rant.

That was in interesting reply to your pro-Trump friend. I don't support him, but I can give you some reasons he won't be a bad President. The first reason is he has $4.3 BILLION. After surviving several bankruptcies Unlike most of the Great Unwashed, I understand that the purpose of a business bankruptcy is not to go out of business, it's to restructure a losing business model into a winning one. There's a strong argument that someone with that kind of business acumen could turn around our country's sorry economic state. Another reason is no President governs alone. He'll have a cabinet (which is basically a board of directors ), the Joint Chiefs, one of the largest civil services in the known universe, and a deadlocked Congress.

None of his outrageous programs can be done without Congressional funding.

If we survived two Bushes, we will survive The Donald.

When I was in High School I knew a fellow who had a Woody station wagon like the one in the photo posted below.

Oh So With You.

I think there's this myth that Saint Ronald defeated Communism by saying firmly, "Mr. Gorbachev, take down this car."

I don't get it. I don't understand how people think Trump will benefit the country. What I do know is that my mother consumes Christian Right-wing media and is absolutely enamoured by him. When I ask why, she tells me it's because he's not a politician. She can't go much further than that and I don't pry (to keep family peace).

I think one has to be a politician in order to survive any high office in government.

I voted for Bernie in the primary and will vote for Hillary in November. I cannot abide all the facebook posts and comments for and against ANY of the candidates. Even if I agree with the opinion, it just feels redundant. Not one person is going to read any of my friends' posts and have an epiphany and a changed opionion. The vitriol has spilled over into discussions about rape, gun control, gay rights/human rights, and even animal rights.

I am seriously considering taking a break from my news feed until Thanksgiving when it should be back to putting the Christ in Christmas. Like, just posting my pictures (and deleting the occasional negative comment) and reading only a couple of never-political groups and pages, So if there's something you or anyone else thinks I will die if I don't see it, you will have to tag me.

I am with you. No one has ever given me a concrete reason that Trump would be a good president or is even remotely qualified to be president. Government is not business; he has failed at business.

But Trump taps into the anger of bigots that they cannot speak aloud (although some do). He's a bully.
