I'm new to your LJ site so I don't know what your struggles are; it sounds like you have had some. Helen Keller said, "Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of overcoming it." Sounds like you do that.

I'm glad you feel that way.

Though I'm not going through anything close to what you have going on in your life, I find I easily get bogged down some days in the little things that aren't working, and forget to focus on the huge things I have that I take for granted- my faith, my friends, my family, my dog, the sun shining outside on the trees moving in the breeze:)

My wife is sick, and I am struggling with that. But we continue to find blessings buried within the pain.

I'm sorry to hear that. Does she have some sort of chronic condition?

She has metastatic colon cancer, that was just diagnosed about 6 or 7 weeks ago. It's been quite a shock to the system.

Oh my, I am so sorry to hear that. I'm a R.N. so certainly understand the gravity of the situation. She must be a young person too, as I sort of assumed you are. Everyone I talk to is much younger than I.

We are both in our mid 40s, and are also both RNs. Being an RN in this situation is a mixed blessing--we know too much, but also have the tools to deal with it.

Here we are a bunch of nurses! Well...it just has to be so hard. Is she receiving treatment? I will certainly keep you and your wife in my prayers. I looked at your profile and it looks as if you are a person of religious faith.

She's receiving chemo primarily, but getting a short series of radiation during this current chemo holiday.
