I thought about suggesting that kind of exception. I have a few books of that sort that have my name written inside the front cover, etc. So, yeah, do what feels right. As someone else pointed out, though, hold onto the Brautigan, considering that some of it is out of print and therefore very tough to replace. Besides, the old editions of Brautigan are classics for their covers and layouts.
