The last few days, on the drive to work, I have come up with a bunch of interesting things to write about. By the time I get home I have forgotten them, or forgotten why I thought they were interesting in the first place.
I was going to write something about my work--what I do, why I like it, why it is hard. I even took a picture to go with it. The words have escaped, but the picture remains.

I like the picture--it was taken in the middle of the ICU on a very chaotic day, but it seems like I am the only one there. I walk under this reflector ball every morning as I am making rounds on the patients. Almost every morning I look up and think, "that would make a good picture".
I like rounds--it is probably the best part of my job right now. Every morning, three of us (pharmacist, nurse practitioner and I) walk around the unit and talk to the nurses about what is going on with their patients. We look at lab results, x-rays and whatever else there is, talk about what is going on, and make recommendations.
I started out there as a nursing assistant, and now I am a clinical expert. I sometimes wonder how that happened.

Date: 2005-02-28 03:52 am (UTC)It is a reflection in one of those reflector half-balls they put on ceilings so you can see what's coming around the corner.
