the boppy pillow mystery
Jan. 25th, 2006 07:23 amI saw a bumper sticker the other day:
Forget world peace
Visualize using your turn signal
I was supposed to start my orientation to the new job this week, but they forgot to schedule me, so I will start next week instead. always a good sign. this gives me a couple of extra days to ponder those great mysteries of life:
--Why am I here?
--Where am I going?
--What's a boppy pillow?
Remember the pie charts? One of those things is starting to gain, and it's one that really didn't seem like it was going to go anywhere initially. But "taking a leisurly drive around the country only had a 7% chance back then too, so you never know.
There were a bunch of old filipino ladies here last night for a prayer group--one of those things that Arlina used to like. They brought lots of food and looked around in all the rooms--typical behavior for old filipino ladies. We prayed for a kid who fell and hit his head yesterday and had to have emergency surgery--the nephew of a friend's friend. After the prayer service my friend called and said the kid was doing great--talking and asking for food.
When I was in the Bay Area last week, I got to meet
mactavish and
joedecker--both very cool people. I forgot to take a picture! Interestingly enough,
mactavish lives in the town I grew up in, and we met at a place I used to hang out at as a kid--the site of the old Doggie Diner, which is long gone. Guess what it is now?

I'm on my way back down to the bay area, to meet another lj friend who is visiting from the east and to take some pictures in one of my favorite places.

Date: 2006-01-25 04:12 pm (UTC)I went to the Doggie Diner on my honeymoon. It was definitely not the same as when I was a kid -- but it was still fun to go there. :)

"To be the eyes, ears and conscience of the creator of the Universe, you fool!"
I'll have to follow the link above to learn about bobby pillows. For me, it's all about the "mushy pillow." I hate foam pillows that seem to have their own agenda - trying to push you back off. I love a soft, mushy, almost flat pillow that conforms without resistance.

And I live now within a couple miles of her.

Not that, y'know, you urgently need to know this. :)

There's a little wedding topper with the Doggy in this picture. We took it everywhere with us on our honeymoon. :)

Date: 2006-01-30 06:28 pm (UTC)Hey you, I'm a friend of Theodicy's, and I love your photgraphs and it seems we have some music in common. Every time I look at your title, Jack White sings in my head. Is he meant to, or is that from something else? I, too, was going to answer the boppy question, but it's been covered.
hey you back
Date: 2006-01-31 03:42 am (UTC)ps--i'm not really that interesting.
