June 17--Fr. Franklin

My friend Franklin was ordained as a priest this evening at the little Franciscan church. It was beautiful. He is Chinese, and as a preface to the Mass there were drums and huge dragon lions that came through the church and chased all the demons away. It was way cool!

He will make a gentle, wonderful priest.

I usually eschew the social events that follow these things, but not tonight. I got to visit with a bunch of people I hadn't seen for a while, and I met a bunch of new people.

We were pretty much the last ones to leave, which is why I missed the deadline for my "picture a day" for the first time. Worth it!

He will live in the friary next to the church and is assigned to us, at least for the next few years. He celebrated his first mass with our little community today. It was wonderful!
