of two minds

I spent most of the day driving from there to here, and spent most of my driving time listening to music and thinking.
My thoughts generally fall into two categories: "photography" and "everything else".
"Everything else" can be fairly neatly divided into "women" and "everything else that is not photography or women".
Such is my life at the moment.

The text on this one really made me chuckle. Neat photo, too.

I plan to steal your idea, by the way, and do a picture-a-day project of my own next year. I hope you don't mind.

The thing I like about your pictures is that every time I look at them I 'see' something else... I really like this one .. I still say you're the best captioner on LJ!

are you in a hotel room?

And how did you do this??

Women as a group, or particular ones?

I don't mind at all--it is a great thing to do--it will stretch you creatively for sure. Can't wait to follow it!

Hey, thanks!

What did you 'see' in this one? What was it you liked about it?

I am in a hotel room in southern california.

I did it by traveling back and forth through time and space while the camera shutter was open.

Both.

that's an amazing photo, mike. beautiful.
i love so much how expressive you are.

and i feel a little more normal with that validation, too: my life seems to be "church, "the holy spirit," and "men." there isn't much else.

I liked the text, of course. I liked the way the one you was looking intently at the screen and the other was looking at the camera. I like the way you have all your important things laid out on the desk.

I saw the reflection of the screen in the bathroom wall behind you and the outline of your head and what appears to be an aura of something/one ... perhaps a woman?... right above your head!

I think I need to have my eyes checked ;)

Despite the fact that it means opening my true photography ignorance to the world, I have to ask...how did u do that?

how i did it

Well, it was really low light--just the light from the computer screen and a little from the back--the bathroom door open a crack. I opened the camera shutter and left it open. I sat down at the computer for about a minute, then moved to the other position for another minute and stared at the camera. Then I got up and shined a little flashlight on the flower for a few seconds. Then I closed the shutter and did the whole thing again about another 5 or 6 times until I got this particular shot.

No, my place is a mess. This is a hotel that is cleaned by maids--that's why it's neat!

It is a coffee pot. But there is something else above my head in the image reflected in the mirror.
