clockwork orange

I had two shoots today--one of a tennis player from hong kong, and the other of a science fiction literature class. The class was the more challenging of the two.

The tennis player was easy--he played tennis and I shot. When I was done I thanked him for his time and he gave me a little punch in the shoulder--I liked that.

The science fiction class was much more difficult to shoot. I think the editor had an idea that the students would be dressed up as Star Trek characters or something, but it is a serious literature class, and they were dressed as students.

The professor was somewhat disinclined to have a photographer in the room, and didn't make it easy. He mentioned that the paper had slammed him sometime in the past. It didn't help that the reporter who was supposed to write the story didn't show--the professor suggested it was because they had already cut the story and didn't bother to tell me. He's probably right about that.

In any case, I took some pictures, and was planning to leave after a few minutes, but it turned out to be a fantastic class, and I stayed for the whole lecture. They were discussing
A Clockwork Orange. I started to read it when I was in high school, but stopped at a particular point, because it hit too close to home. I'd like to try again.

Anyway, it was time well spent, and I got a few good shots, even if they never use them.

read on my friend...the book stirs some contemplative thoughts...as for tennis, i love it and find it does much the same. why? because i play zen tennis...it's all about being present, enjoying every volley and it's never about score...ciao!

I really like that shot. The shallow depth of field works amazingly well.

Oh! I must've missed something -- you're taking photos for a paper! Does this paper have an online edition?
