Some say
it was a pear
Eve ate.

pear1

Why else the shape
of the womb,
or of the cello
Whose single song is grief
for the parent tree?

pear2

Why else the fruit itself
tawny and sweet
which your lover
over breakfast
lets go your pear-
shaped breast
to reach for?

pear3

Oh, pears. I thought they were figs at first.

Fabulous...such a lovely blush... and very clever. (Did you know the Pear Fair is the last Sunday of July in Courtland?) ~A

These are just beautiful. They remind me to look around at the bounty of beautiful food around just waiting to be eaten or even...photographed. :)

I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them. I bought some last week, but Malida ate them before I could shoot them!

they look a little atypical for pears--that's why I like them.

yes! the lady who sold these to me is one of the growers down there and reminded me of it. I haven't been for years.

My grandpa was an artist, and loved to paint (and later photograph) whatever was handy in his garden. When I was in Germany, he used to send me photographs of artfully arranged potatoes and such!

I can see why you would like them - they were beautiful pears!
