So, Ok. Right.

It's been three months since I've been here. I think the last entry I made was right after my dad passed away. That hit me way harder than I would have ever expected, and kind of propelled me into a funk, on top of some lingering neurological issues from my COVID infection back in March. Not to mention living in the midst of a pandemic and isolating at home, as we all are.

In any case, I came out of it gradually over the past week, and yesterday felt back to my usual self. I saw a neurologist and had some tests (man, woman, person, camera, TV), but there was nothing specific that showed up. She did reassure me that I don't have dementia, which was good. I am still having short term memory issues, but have found that making lots of notes works pretty well.

Today I got up early and baked some bread.

bread

Interestingly, I have taken very few pictures the past couple of months, and didn't even have a file for July and August in my photo archives. I was thinking about what to put in my calendar this year, but I think I will use stuff from the archives, as I haven't really been anywhere.

One good thing is that I found the hard drive with my photographs all the way back to 2004. I had hidden it, along with my backup drive before our trip to Thailand two years ago. Once I hid it, I thought of a better hiding place and put it there. When we got home, I forgot where that better place was, and have been searching for it for the past two years. The other day I was cleaning some stuff out, and found the drives. They were sitting on a shelf in the guest room closet, behind a gift bag full of junk. Not even really hidden. I immediately duplicated the photo drive onto another drive, so now I have two copies.

morning on the Mekong

One from the archives from my first trip to Thailand back in 2007. Early morning in northern Thailand, looking across the Mekong towards Laos. Later that morning, we crossed the river, and took a two-day boat trip down the Mekong to Luang Prabang. That was such a great trip. I lost my sunglasses in the river, though.

My friend Gracegiver sent me a message the other day asking if I was ok, because no one had seen me here for a while. I'm ok now. Thanks!

I'm sorry to hear you've had lingering neurological effects. I'm sure grief plays into that as well. I'm very glad you're feeling more yourself now.

I think I saw the Thailand photo on FB--it is gorgeous.

Here's to feeling more and more yourself--eat good bread, breathe the air.

Illness and grief, both tough to recover from.
When I got divorced decades ago I had acute memory problems. I moved out at the beginning of a semester and at the end of that semester, when studying for finals, I had no memory at all of taking notes. The notes were there, in my handwriting, but I didn't remember the lectures at all. With time it all got better.
This fall should be beautiful and if we ever get rain we might get rid of the smoke!!
Hope things keep looking up for you.

I'm glad to see you here again, and sorry you are still having covid issues. I have lost and found things in my house, but part of that is having not moved for 20 years.
