I got up early and finished clearing out the rooms for the carpet cleaning guy. Then I went to the bank and took out some money to pay him with. I realized that we hadn't discussed how much it was going to be, so I took a guess and took out that much.

The room looks pretty empty. Actually, it is always pretty empty. I hated the furniture that used to be in here and got rid of it after my first wife died. Nowadays it's mostly camera junk that sits along the right side. I put most of that stuff in my already overstuffed office.

The family room. I pushed all the furniture and stuff into the kitchen. I started to vacuum the carpet before the guy came, but the vacuum cleaner died on me with a horrible shudder and an electrical burning smell. It was an eight-pound Oreck XL that I bought when I moved into my first house 20 years ago. I got my money's worth out of it.

This one is to answer the question about whether my tv sits in the fireplace. It doesn't--it's a tv nook. I'd prefer just a wall there, but I do like that the upper part is open to the front room--that was one of the things I liked when I first looked at the house.
The guy, whose name is Mike, did a great job on the carpet--it looks like new. When we discussed how much it was going to cost, he came up with a figure that was the exact amount that I had guessed. I told him that, and we were both pleased with ourselves.
I spent the rest of the day not doing much of anything. I watched a wonderful little independent movie called Cashback. It popped up in my netflix list from out of nowhere. It stars Sean Biggerstaff, who I remembered from the Harry Potter movies--he played Wood, the captain of the Quiddich team.
I had a thought today as I was listening to an old Tubes song on the radio. The song contains a reference to Patty Hearst, who was kidnapped by the SLA back in the 70s. Here's what popped into my head: "Back in my day, heiresses weren't celebrities--they were terrorists who robbed banks."
It makes sense if your head is filled with the same kind of stuff that's in mine.
