hands of a god
Dec. 13th, 2002 12:30 pmMy boss is sick this week, so most of the meetings that I am asked to attend have been cancelled, including the one this morning. Because of this, I decide to sleep in and go in after coffee and the paper. Just as I wander into the ICU, a patient goes into ventricular tachycardia and a "code blue" is called. I wander on in to the room to see if they need any help.
There is a "loaner" defibrillator on the crash cart because the regular one got dropped, and everyone is just kind of standing there staring at it, wondering how it works. So I walk in, turn on the machine, grab the paddles, and shock the patient back in to a rythym that is compatible with life. I have been at work for less than 2 minutes.
I have done my good deed for the day. I think I should go home now.
