About me from A to Z---"A"

Although I have had a couple of dogs, I am basically a cat person. We always had a bunch of cats running around our house when I was growing up. My sister was crazy about cats, and would dress them up like dolls and stuff.
One of my aunts was a "cat lady"--she had about 30 or 40 cats running around her place. It was a real mess. She ended up drinking herself to death, and they sold her place for chump change. It was in Marin County, where just the land probably goes for more than $1 million now.
The last dog I owned was named "Spam", which was short for "Spamela". She was an Australian Shepherd, and an all-around cool dog. Unfortunately I lived in an apartment and she was locked inside all day. Herding the cat around the house soon became boring for her, so she started chewing up my record album covers. I ended up giving her to some folks I knew who lived on a farm. I like to imagine that she lived a very happy farm dog life.
When I was in the Air Force, I had a couple of fire newts that lived in a fishbowl. I had to leave them with someone when I was transferred, and they met a tragic end at his hands.
We have two cats currently, Spanky and Baby. Baby is 13 and Spanky is around 7 or 8--whenever the OJ Simpson trial was going on. I was watching the coverage one day and remarked to Arlina that if I had a black cat, I'd name it Judge Ito. A few days later she surprised me with a black kitten. The kitten didn't act anything like a judge, but did manage to get in all sorts of trouble, hence the name "Spanky". They don't do much anymore--mostly eat and find sunny places to take naps. I get jealous.
