word up
I was walking down J street and passed a couple of guys engaged in conversation. As soon as this guy noticed that I was carrying a camera, he started dancing around and doing all sorts of exaggerated poses, still talking to his friend.

After I had gotten about ten feet past him, he called out, "Word up to your cousin, man".

"Ok", I replied.

So what is the deal with gmail? Why is everyone so excited about it? Is it because you have to get an invite from someone--does that create a "buzz" about it?

Really all I know about it is that it is a google thing that allows them to track your email trends by keywords, and that there is a lot of storage space. What's so special about that?

And I'm not trying to be cool or elitist or anything--I just don't get what it is about.

After the last post, [livejournal.com profile] asqmh offered me an invite to check it out for myself, and I took it.

And no, the last post wasn't some pathetic cry for an invite--I'm sure I could get plenty of invites, my childhood "you're not invited to my party" trauma thing notwithstanding.

But I still really don't get it. Maybe because I have aol for my primary email, and have every email I have ever sent stored somewhere. Of course it's not free.

So I have an account--myasma@gmail.com

And when I tried to access it I got this:

Gmail is temporarily unavailable. Cross your fingers and try again in a few minutes. We're sorry for the inconvenience.
