It was a year ago yesterday that I left my old job and wandered off into the unknown. It was a good decision.
On that day a year ago, I preached at the little Franciscan church, and said something that someone liked. We talked after, and ended up going for coffee. It turned into a 3 1/2 hour conversation. She mapped out my life on a Starbucks napkin. It was a little surreal.
She lived in southern california at the time, but has since moved to sacramento and we have become friends. We talk pretty regularly. She seems to have a knack for figuring me out.
Last week when I called her she said, You thought about it for ten minutes before you called, didn't you?"
It was true--I did.
"Stop thinking", she said. "You need to do something that keeps you from analyzing everything to death. Maybe you should take up bike riding or something".
