We took a drive to Luxembourg. It was rainy, and the city roads were narrow and treacherous. We had a hard time finding anything, including the way overpriced Thai restaurant Malida wanted to try. I spent the entire day fretting about the car I borrowed, concerned that I would hit a slick spot and spin out or something.

On our way back to Germany, we stopped in Ettlebruck to take a picture of the George Patton statue at the entrance to the town. I had been here once before 35 years ago, and wanted to get a picture.

We ended up on a small country road that dead-ended, and had to turn back, only to be detoured off the road we got on. I was stressed.

We finally made it back to Trier just as it was getting dark. I breathed a sigh of relief as I turned into the parking garage, hit a sharp curb as I turned in, and ripped a big hole in the tire. Sigh.

We're back in Frankfurt, but I'm still stressed.

Easy fellah, easy. Patton crossed half of Europe with ten thousand trucks and had lots of detours, lots of flats. Next time fire your twin pearl handled sidearms at the detour signs: "'Nuts!' to you", and plow on ahead. You and Malida laughing, "Weee!" as on you go.

Well, bugger. Sorry that trip was stressful and ended with a punctured tire. What a pain.

Ya, but on the upside, we are on vacation in Europe, so it's all good!

That statue is freakish. Thanks for showing it.

And I am so terribly sorry about the stress and the tyre. :(

The statue is about 7 feet tall, and up close, a very realistic depiction of Patton. I remember when we came and saw it in 1977, and what an impression it made. Patton was the liberator of Luxembourg, and they love him here.

I bet. It stil produces a startling visual impression for me-- which helps to make it a great photo. :D

I missed these entries. Did you drive into Luxembourg City and tour the Bock?
It's a fascinating history lesson.

We did drive into Lux city, but did not tour the Bock. We were pushed back by rain.

I"m glad you made it safely. We rent cars while on vacation out of the country sometimes, but trains and buses seem easier, somehow.
