red slough

I came across this shot the other day as I was driving through the park after lunch. It's a slough or something that runs next to the river. I loved the reds and golds. I thought it would be a nice place to come back and shoot when I had more time. So now it's on my list.

It's been raining for two days now. I love listening to the rain coming down. The news guys are quick to point out that it is not enough rain to erase the drought. They illustrate this by pouring a glass of water into a 10 gallon water bottle. I watch and think, "yeah, but you spilled some."

It's tiresome to hear people say, "This won't undo the drought." No, it won't, but if we had enough rain to undo it, where would we put it?

Bonus points for the Pretenders song title.

Good point. I'm just glad for whatever rain we get. Even if it isn't enough to undo the drought, it doesn't make the situation any worse.

Haha--yes. I was listening to that when I started writing.

It looks like it would be lovely to shoot this slough at dawn on a warm Spring day.

Yes--that's pretty much what I was thinking. This is facing east, and I suspect it is a little misty in the early morning. In any case, I can get off the freeway one stop early and pass by here almost every morning on my way to work.
