garden pig

This is the pig head that I referenced in yesterday's post. So I guess I've had it for more than 30 years. Twice he has hung inside, and twice he has been banished to the back yard. He perseveres.

I had a nice monday off today. Got up and drank coffee and looked at pictures, then went out to do errands and shopping. I went to Costco for toilet paper and ended up buying new sheets, some shirts, a leg of lamb and assorted other items. Happens every time. I came home and made carnitas tacos for lunch.

It was a beautiful day and I sat out in the back yard for a while. I got a Bose wireless portable speaker for my 25th anniversary gift from the hospital, and I took it outside with me and listened to some tunes I am putting together. One of the songs is by Mose Allison, called Parchman Farm. It is about a prison in Mississippi. There are all sorts of songs about Parchman Farm. The legendary blues musician Son House was a prisoner there. Apparently there was a government program at the time to go into these places and record the music the prisoners were playing. It reminds me of a similar situation where photographers like Ansel Adams and Dorothea Lange went in and photographed the Japanese internment camps in the 1940s. We'll take away your civil rights, but be sure to leave an accurate documentation.

I like "He perseveres."

I didn't know about Parchman Farm or about those music and photo collection projects: thank you.

It's interesting--sometimes something catches my interest and I go off in a whole new direction about something. that's what makes life interesting.

When I see a pig I think "moo". Thailand warped me that way.

haha--I just asked my wife what sound a pig makes, and she has gone off on a long and entertaining imitation of pig sounds.
