We are in the lovely town of Mariposa for the evening. It sits at the doorstep of the south entrance to Yosemite. We took our time getting here today, and arrived in the early afternoon. We had a nice lunch at the local diner, then headed up toward Yosemite.

It was a lovely road. It follows the Merced River. There are cliffs and wildflowers all around. When we got close to Yosemite, we saw a big storm coming toward us and decided to drive back down to town. We will head back up in the morning.

We had dinner at a place across the street from where we are staying--The Charles Street Dinner House. We ate there the last time we were here, 7 years ago. It is family owned. When we ate there last, we mentioned we had just gotten married. At the end of the meal, the owner came out to congratulate us, and said the meal (including champagne) was on the house. We always said we would go back and eat there again someday, and that day was today. The food and service were both excellent. We left a big tip.

The "high speed" internet connection is so slow it makes me long for the days of dial up. I could only upload a single low-res picture. These days there is just no excuse for crappy internet. Seriously. Sending it via Pony Express would be faster.

I am so jealous. I wish I was at Yosemite right now. I have been to many National Parks, none, imho can match Yosemite.

It is a beautiful place, for sure. I love having it in my backyard.

At least you are in a place that has a wi fi connection, some places do not have any.
We have never been to Yosemite. Hope to one day. We have been to see the Redwoods.

Enjoy!

I could understand it if they didn't have wifi--I've been to plenty of places where there is none, and was fine with that. But if you are going to say you have "high speed internet", then you should.

I hope you get to see Yosemite one day--it is a lovely place. I like the redwoods too--We will probably go up to spend some time with them later this year.

Awww. I have been dying to go back to Yosemite ourselves - we haven't been since we got married. Our cabin was near Groveland, iirc. Perhaps we'll go there for an anniversary soon - it's not *so* far away anymore :-)

If you do go, let me recommend a house that is right in Yosemite--it is big and roomy, and rented out by a guy I know who is a rock climber. We love staying there when we are going to be around for a few days.
