First day of June and it is hot! 95 degrees today. Malida was off and we went out walking early, then went shopping for a bit. After shopping we were hungry, so we had breakfast at our favorite breakfast place. This made us torporous, so we took an early nap, which was kind of strange, but very refreshing.

After the nap we had coffee and I called both the satellite radio company and the internet/cable company and got both of them to significantly reduce the rates I am paying for their services. I loved the guy I talked to at the satellite radio company. He said (in a very interesting accent), "Are you telling me you would like to pay less for this service?"

"That is what I am asking," I replied.

"Well, sir, It is fortunate that you called today, and, by chance, were connected to me, because I am going to do that for you."

And he did. He dropped my rate to a very favorable level. Similar situation with the cable/internet provider, who simply dropped my rate to about $5 below last years promotional rate. I can't complain.

I made some shrimp and asparagus pasta for an early dinner. It was delicious. I tried making it a while back, but I think this time I nailed it.

pasta

After we ate, we hung out until it was cool enough to go walk again, and we walked again in the evening as it was starting to cool off. After our walk, I took Malida to get some shaved ice, then dropped her off so I could play ingress for a while. I ended up with 20,000+ steps today. Not bad for a hot day.

code

Some sort of code--not sure what it means.

*snicker* he said "torporous*

I am ditching SiriusXM when my annual contract expires in August, in large part because they summarily dumped my favorite talk show and fired the hosts, and then got rid of the LGBT channel altogether. They did not even attempt to lure me in with a discount. I found the music was getting more and more repetitive too. My kingdom for a simple headphone jack so I could listen to Spotify in my truck.

You should be able to aftermarket some sort of jack that will allow you to hook up your phone to your truck stereo system. It would probably cost less than a 1-year subscription to SiriusXM.

I really only listen to one channel, but it is worth the subscription cost. If it went away, I would probably drop the service in a minute.

They did install something for me at the dealership but it's terrible. It's the old kind of iPhone/iPod jack and it does not charge the phone while using it, so of course because it's an iPhone the battery then is dead in an hour.

I have my old 3Gs with no SIM card in it; what I should do is load that up with offline music from Spotify and then just play music on there.

A nap can be bliss. Your dinner looks delicious. Good job on getting your rates reduced.

It was a nice dinner, and we had shrimp again tonight, but in a different recipe.

I kept only the Sirius XM unit that has the lifetime membership, so I pay zero. At one time I had 2 or 3 other units as well. There are some things abou FiOS that I hate, but not enough to change. I called about the price once and got irritated. You're better at that stuff than I am.

Protein-cheese-vegetable-pasta is a thing I cook a lot. With linguine I would want the vegetable in very thin slices that would twirl around the fork along with the pasta. I would also have enough crushed red pepper and thin slices of garlic to the point they would be visible. More likely I would use a stockier shape of pasta, maybe bow ties (farfalle) for the mix you have, and then I would be happy with big chunks of everything else. If someone else (not me) were cooking your picture? My only complaint would be the small portion size!

My original plan was for some shell pasta, but when I went to look what I had, it was linguine and nothing else, so that is what I went with. But next time! lol

Once in a while after going out for breakfast on a weekend, if there's nothing much on my schedule, I'll enjoy a blissful morning nap.

Thank you for giving me a word to justify it!

My wife picked one up in my car the other night and asked, "What is this?" When I told her, she tossed it in the back seat and groaned. lol

You should totally get her playing. It's fun to go on missions together.
I make hitlists and fielding maps, usually as separate entities, but sometimes they get stuck together.

How on earth do you get those telecom deals? Whenever I have requested a lower rate (such as when a promotional period ends) the response has always been they can't do anything for me; perhaps a deal will happen later that I can catch.
