Pumpkin Therapy
Oct. 28th, 2002 03:07 pmI had all the nieces and nephews over yesterday to carve pumpkins, a yearly ritual. This year, though, I grew most of the pumpkins myself! They were fine.
So we had a pumpkin lottery to see who got which pumpkin. One cried because she didn't get the one she wanted, but her cousin gave it to her so all was well.
My youngest niece is about 2, and she has been afraid of me ever since she could look up. She just won't have anything to do with me. When she came in yesterday, I asked her if she wanted a pumpkin and she reluctantly nodded yes. I had a special pumpkin for her that was about the size of her head. When I showed it to her she broke out in the biggest grin I had ever seen, and started laughing!
She grabbed the pumpkin and ran all around the house with it. Eventually she brought it to me for carving. After they went home her mom called and said that she had named the pumpkin "Uncle Mike", and wouldn't go to sleep without it beside her. Awwww.....
